Make sure the users were not disconnected intentionally by an administrator. |

Make sure idle users are not set to be disconnected. |

Make sure the computer running the file server software is still working and is connected properly to the network. |

Check the TCP/IP settings on the user's computer and on the computer that is running the file server and verify that TCP/IP is active. |

Make sure that the volume to which users were connected is mounted. |

Check the network connection of each user's computer. |

It may be a hardware problem. If the problem is isolated to users on one part of the network, run diagnostic software on your network devices (routers, switches, and Ethernet hubs). |
